How to Clean Light Fixtures
- Dust the light fixture first
Always start by dusting to remove loose debris before wiping. - Turn the light off before hand‑cleaning
This prevents heat‑related burns and reduces the risk of breaking a hot bulb. - Bathroom light fixtures
Dust with a feather duster.
To hand clean, use a 2‑step ladder or sturdy stool. Wipe the entire fixture with a lightly damp microfiber cloth, including the base, decorative pieces, and bulb.
Some bathroom fixtures only have a bulb and a base—clean both thoroughly. - Hanging light fixtures
Dust the entire fixture, including the chain all the way up to the ceiling.
Hand clean the inside and outside of the decorative piece with a lightly damp cloth.
Wipe the bulbs gently. - Difficult or detailed fixtures
Some fixtures have ridges or grooves that trap dirt.
These are usually glass—spray cleaner carefully on the outside only (avoid spraying near electrical areas).
Use a toothbrush to scrub dirt, grease, and grime out of each groove.
Wipe each ridge individually to remove residue. - Do the best you can
Some fixtures are high, awkward, or uniquely shaped. Clean safely and thoroughly within reach and training. - We do not remove light fixture. We clean them in place -if a client is willing to take them down then we will clean them, let them dry and client reinstalls fixture.
