How to Clean Stair Rails

  • For maintenance cleans
    Dust the stair rails first and spot clean any visibly dirty areas.
  • For deep cleans
    Dust the entire rail system before hand‑cleaning.
  • Prepare your cleaning solution
    Use a bucket of water mixed with Dawn dish soap or Murphy’s Oil Soap, depending on the material and finish.
  • Wash every part of the rail
    Use a lightly damp microfiber cloth to wash:
  • all poles/spindles
  • the handrail
  • the rail base
    Work methodically so nothing is missed.
  • Clean from top to bottom
    Start at the top of the staircase and work your way down so dust and drips don’t fall onto areas you’ve already cleaned.
