Vacuum Safety -Audio

Safe vacuum habits prevent injuries, damage, and job delays. Follow these steps every time.

Plugging and Unplugging

  1. Plug the vacuum directly into the outlet.
  2. Never pull the cord to unplug the vacuum.
  3. Always hold the plug at the outlet when unplugging.

Cord Awareness

  1. Keep the cord behind you and out of walk paths.
  2. Hold the cord on the handle to keep it up and out of the way.
  3. Never run the vacuum over the cord.

Wrapping the Cord

  1. Turn the vacuum off and unplug it first.
  2. Bend down to wrap the cord, not repeated up and down movement.
  3. Wrap the cord in a loose circle.
  4. Secure it neatly on the vacuum handle or hooks.

Stair Safety

  1. Always be careful when vacuuming stairs.
  2. Stand on one side of the stair.
  3. Keep the vacuum on the opposite side.
  4. Clean one step at a time.
  5. The vacuum is never behind you.

Body Safety

  1. Maintain proper posture.
  2. Move slowly and with control.
  3. Protect your back and legs at all times.
  4. Stop if you feel strain or discomfort.

Clean Up

  1. Check the area for cords or tools left behind.
  2. Store the vacuum upright in its proper place.
  3. Make sure walk paths are clear before leaving.

When to Escalate

  1. Damaged cords or exposed wires.
  2. Loose plugs or sparking outlets.
  3. Any injury or near miss.

Follow this play every time. Safety is not optional.
