The client is home
How to handle things if the client is home when you arrive. Follow these steps to make sure the experience is professional and respectful.
- Knock first.
- If nobody answers, it’s usually fine to enter, but check the notes in your app for special instructions (e.g., “do not knock”).
When entering the home:
- Announce yourself clearly: “Hello, it’s ____ with Reno Custom Cleaning.”
- This prevents walking in on someone unexpectedly (like if they’re running late or in the shower).
Greeting the client:
- Use their last name (Mr./Mrs. Smith).
I- f you can’t pronounce it, simply say “Mr.” or “Mrs. S.”
Health & safety precautions:
- If the home is occupied, ring the bell, step back 6 feet, and put your mask on.
- Sanitize all supplies before bringing them into the home (COVID-19 precaution).
Safety Note:
- Always respect personal space when a client is home.
- Never assume it’s okay to enter without knocking and announcing yourself.
Following these steps is the correct way to handle the situation because it ensures professionalism, respects client privacy, and keeps both you and the client safe.
